Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, shaped by loud, sarcastic Shabbat dinners and a large family in love with art and arguing, Joshua grew up around the film industry and spent much of his early life not only fascinated by the magic and hustle of production, but mesmerized by the performance, expression, and impact of a stark visual image.

Influenced by the truthfulness and intentionality of cinematographers such as Agnés Godard, Robby Müller, and Roger Deakins, Josh is always motivated by narrative, regardless of medium and genre, and the joy brought through meaningful collaboration. He loves nothing more than sharing his passion with others, and working to create meaningful images that serve the story and hopefully impact one another.

 

His love for cinematography stems from stories that ignite his emotions. He is always seeking to capture those feelings in the narrative, considering character, emotion, and tone to shape the visuals of the piece. In his mind, nothing is as singularly important as service to the story.
